Bluffton Sesquicentennial

It all ends Saturday. Bluffton's celebration of its 150th anniversary as an incorporated village concludes with a day full of activities.

Here's Saturday's schedule:

• 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. - Pork barbecue lunch, Presbyterian Church lawn. Side dishes are cheesy potatoes, green beans and a roll. Tickets are $7 and may be purchased on Saturday. Carry out or eat in.

• Noon - Sesquicentennial parade line up, East College near Railroad Street

• Noon - Bluffton High School class of 1946 65th reunion

Dan Groman provides the following information on the old-time baseball game scheduled at the village park (across the interstate). The game is at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.

This sign was spotted in Roger and Sandy Hoffman front yard on Geiger Street for Bluffton's sesquicentennial celebration, which began over the June 24 weekend.

The sign even has some history as Roger mentioned that this sign was originally purchased from Fultz's Sign Co. back in 1986 for Bluffton's 125th Birthday.

Two days remain - but they might be the best two! Bluffton's sesquicentennial celebration has a full weekend of activities planned Friday and Saturday, July 1 and 2.

Here's Friday's schedule:

If Monday was Ladies’ Day, then Thursday, June 30, must be Kid’s Day. Bluffton sesquicentennial events continue with a schedule of events gears for youth planned.

Here’s Thursday’s schedule:
•10 a.m. to 2 p.m. – Children’s activities planned in the Bluffton Presbyterian Church alley
•10 a.m. to 5 p.m. – Adult and children art and photo contest, also in the Presbyterian Church yard.
•2 to 4 p.m. – American Girl tea at the Bluffton Senior Citizens Center

After gathering together some of Bluffton's best musicians and vocalists, Pat Rodabaugh, representing the Bluffton Sesquicentennial Committee, is presenting "Bluffton's Brand of Broadway" at Yoder Hall at Bluffton University Friday and Saturday, July 1-2 at 7 p.m.

The show is free and includes selections from 15 Broadway musicals performed by local talent.

If you missed one of Tuesday's sesquicentennial historical lecture, don't worry. Several repeats are on the Wednesday, June 29, calendar.

Four lectures and a crochet demonstration are planned on various Bluffton historical topics on Tuesday, June 28, as the Bluffton sesquicentennial celebration heads for mid-week.

1 p.m. - Crochet demonstrations at the Bluffton Senior Citizens Center

Bluffton Presbyterian Church will have a barbecue chicken or pulled pork dinner on the church lawn Saturday, July 2, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Side dishes are cheesy potatoes, green beans and a roll. Tickets are $7 and may be purchased at the church office, Village Cut N Curl or the day of the dinner. Carry out or eat in.

The sesquicentennial parade is at 1 p.m. on Saturday.

Monday, June 27, is Ladies' Day on the Bluffton sesquicentennial schedule.
