6th grade:
Cole Harlow is the son of Craig and Misti Harlow, Bluffton. Cole participates on a soccer and a basketball team. He is a Maple Crest volunteer. In his spare time he likes to play soccer or his guitar.
Taylor Monday is the daughter of Dan and Tracy Monday, Bluffton.
Taylor is a member of the BMS choir. She plays softball, volleyball and basketball. Taylor is a member at the BFR and in her spare time she likes to play sports.
7th grade:
Robert Zeits is the son of Clair and Victoria Zeits, Columbus Grove.
Roger participates on the BFR U-15 soccer team. He is a member of the Boy Scout troop 256 and in his spare time he likes to play with his dog, does archery, plays basketball, and plays at the pellet gun range.
Eric Sheehan is the daughter of Mike and Sue Sheehan, Bluffton.
Erica is a member of the BMS Choir and is a cheerleader. She is currently playing on the MS softball team. She is in dance and in her spare time she likes to play softball, travel, and hang out with her friends.
8th grade:
Joey Bischoff is the son of Joe and Melissa Bischoff, Bluffton. Joey participates in recycling, and in his spare time likes to play video games and sometimes read.
Cheyenne Treen is the daughter of Tana Hattery of Findlay and Earl Treen, Bluffton. Cheyenne is a member of the BMS choir and participates on a tri-county softball team. In her spare time she likes to play softball and hang out with her friends.
Gregg Luginbuhl's ceramic works Rustic Decanter V, Rustic Decanter VI, and Rustic Decanter w/Five Cups, are currently on display in the invitational exhibition Form Figure Function: Contemporary Ohio Ceramics at the Springfield Museum of Art through April 3. The exhibition features sculptural, figural, and functional clay work by 17 Ohio contemporary ceramic artists. The show will travel to the Zanesville Art Center and the Canton Art Institute following its run in Springfield.
At the opening reception of this show on Jan.y 30, Gregg learned that two of these institutiions had acquired one of his works for their permanent collections: Rustic Decanter VI was purchased by the Canton Art Institute, while Rustic Decanter V was purchased by the Springfield Museum of Art.
Bluffton was hit with several inches of snow on the evening of Feb. 5 and early morning hours of Feb. 6. Here are some "clean up" photos from Feb. 6.
Bluffton middle school student Elizabeth Nisly wanted to help the people in Haiti following the earthquake in that island nation. She organized a fund-raiser dinner at her church, Grace Mennonite, Pandora. Here are photos of her preparing for the event. The dinner raised $4,333.54.

The Bluffton Area Ministerial Association sponsored its annual community worship service on Aug. 1, 2010, on the Bluffton Presbyterian Church lawn.

All performances will be at 7:30 p.m. in Yoder Recital Hall, beginning Sept. 30 with the Massenkoff Russian Folk Festival, starring singer Nik
Second in the series will be Percussion Group Cincinnati, on Oct. 21. The three-member group has awakened concert audiences to a wider world of music since 1979, using everything from amplified cactus needles, newspapers and garbage cans to the traditional sounds of drums, cymbals and bells from around the world.
Ringing in the new year on Jan. 20 will be one of the most respected brass ensembles in the U.S., Cleveland-based Burning River Brass. Composed of 12 of the finest brass and percussion players in the country, BRB offers a repertoire including fresh arrangements of classic works, as well as original music written specifically for the group, which has released four CDs.
Pianist Martina Filjak will take the Bluffton stage on March 3. Since her debut in her native Croatia at age 12, Filjak has developed an extensive repertoire of piano concertos, performing regularly in her home country and abroad.
Wrapping up the series on March 31 will be the touring All-American Boys Chorus. Under the direction of Wesley Martin, the chorus includes more than 30 boys ages 9-14. In its 40-year history, the Costa Mesa, Calif.-based ensemble has produced five full-length albums and has appeared on the Disney Channel, with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra and in the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade.
Also among its television credits have been commercials for Mazda and KFC.
Single-admission and season tickets may be purchased for the series. Individual event prices are $25 for adults and $20 for senior citizens and students. Season tickets are $75 for adults and $65 for senior citizens and students.
A family pass is also available for $50, allowing parents who purchase one adult season ticket to obtain a season pass that will admit all children in the family, ages 6-18, to all five performances. Children ages 5 and under are admitted free.

Michael Hoblet won the fifth annual BFR benefit 5K Race on Sept. 4. The 60 race participants traveled through Bluffton including the university and part of the Mennonite Memorial Home property..
Hoblet won with a time of 17:10.0, and beat out the 2009 winner, Ken Basinger. The top female finisher was Jessica Arthur with a time of 21:19.1.
Twelve participated in the Pump n Run Challenge that included multiple lifts prior to the start of the race. Kurt Kuhlman and Randy Barnhart took 15 minutes off their race time with the challenge. Diedre Latham and Timothy Smathers successfully completed 29 repetitions to drop their 5K time by 14.4 minutes.
"BFR was proud of the 16 participants who completed their first 5K ever. The 16 included seven women who had worked out at BFR this summer in preparation for this event," said Carole Enneking of BFR.
She added that two area families came out in full to support BFR with the 5K. The Young family included Kendy and son, Luke, who have run together before, with thevaddition of father, Brian, and daughter, Cara. The Latham family from Pandora have participated in the BFR race in prior years. Families members include father, John with children, Jessica, Diedre and Tyler.
"Special thanks go to the Bluffton Police Department and Evan Skilliter forleading the race. Numerous volunteers, including the local cub scouts and boy scouts, assisted with offering course direction, time, and water stations, said Enneking.

6th Grade:
Kristen Yost, daughter of Jason and Jennifer Yost, Bluffton.
Kristen is a member of the BMS Strings and band programs. She attends Stonbridge Church of God in Findlay and is in Dance at Cindy's Tap on Wood in Columbus Grove.
Isaac Andreas, son of Jan Wiebe and Jonathan Andreas, Bluffton. Isaac was a member of Quiz Bowl last year and is currently taking private lessons for violin. He attends the First Mennonite Church and is in the youth group. He plays indoor soccer at the BFR.
7th Grade:
Mia Edwards is the daughter of Angel Lombardo, Bluffton and Ben Edwards, Rockport. Mia is a member of the BMS Strings and Band programs.
Dylan Whitlow is the son of Tammy Whitlow, Bluffton and Warren Whitlow of Hunter Town, Ind. Dylan is a member of the BMS choir. He attends church at the Lima Community Church and is in the youth group. He is in 4-H and attends Club JV.
8th Grade:
Kiya Schlievert is the daughter of Julie and Brian Schlievert, Bluffton.
Kiya play the flute for the BMS band and is planning on running track in the spring. She attends youth group.
Eric Prater is the son of Kelly and Bill Baker of Columbus Grove, and Rich Prater of Alger. Eric plays football, basketball, baseball and wrestles.
SEPTEMBER 2010

Tyler McLaughlin, son of Jim and Lisa McGlaughlin, Bluffton. Tyler is a member of the Bluffton Bucs football team and plays basketball and baseball. He attends St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Sarah Theisen, daughter of Bill and Beth Theisen, Bluffton. Sarah is a member of the BMS choir and band, and is trying out for the BMS quiz bowl team. She is a Girl Scout, plays BFR soccer, and attends St. Mary's Catholic church.

Rachel Moser, daughter of Bruce and Cindy Moser, Bluffton. Rachel is a member of the BMS choir and band. She attends Ebenezer Mennonite church and plays BFR soccer.

Take 175 pounds of peanuts, add 180 pounds of sugar, 84 containers of Karo syrup, mix in some Blue Bonnet margarine, baking soda, and if you do it just right you'll create peanut brittle. Bluffton Senior Citizens, of course, have the secret recipe. They are creating the candy each Monday in November. The candy costs only $4.50 a pound and is available while the supply lasts. It takes a crew of between 25 and 30 volunteers each Monday to create the candy. Here are some views of the production line from Nov. 1.
Breaking news --- At 3 p.m. on Nov. 6, 2010, a 6-point buck broke the front window of Luke's Bar and Grill. It entered the bar and for 30 seconds tried to escape. Finally, the buck bolted out the back door and disappeared. Here are photos from the bar's security cameras. Also included is a photo of the staff in front of the window.
