It was tea time at Maple Crest on May 15. Make that "traditional tea time." Amelia Stauffer and Marge Lafolette, who tea experts talked about how tea plays an important part of many cultures during an afternoon program in the Patio Room.
Refreshments includes spinach pinwheels, fresh fruit cups, lemon curd tarts and tea and vanilla chai.

Marissa Schutz, a Pandora-Gilboa High School senior, is the 2012 winner of the Barbara Fleming Memorial Scholarship sponsored by Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio, (MHCO), Bluffton.
Schutz is the daughter of John and Marcia Schutz. This annual award provides scholarship support to a student pursuing a degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse, a Registered Nurse or a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

"The earth has been leveled around the homes and the detention pond has been created. Siding is nearly complete on both homes and stone work has begun. The drywall is nearly finished in House A while the ceilings and walls of House B are being painted. Appliances have been ordered."
That's the latest update on the Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio Green House construction project on Augsburger Road, across from Maple Crest Senior Living Village.
Pianist Jimmie Fruchey of Cridersville recently reached the “coda” of his piano-playing years as an entertainer at Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio.
For the past 13 years Fruchey performed monthly as a volunteer for MHCO residents. Actually Bluffton is just one of his monthly gigs. He has also entertained in 10 area homes for seniors.
Fruchey recalls that he was drawn to Maple Crest Senior Living Village when it opened in 1999 when his sister, who lived across the street from MMH, encouraged him to visit.
A discussion of Mary Ann Shaffer’s book “The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society” will take place in the family room of Maple Crest Senior Living Village on Memorial Day (Monday, May 28), at 3 p.m. Maple Crest Senior Living Village is located at 700 Maple Crest Ct., Bluffton.
Copies of the book are available at Bluffton Public Library, 145 S. Main St., Bluffton.

Volunteers are needed to deliver Mobile Meals within the Bluffton community. One driver is needed on the second Tuesday of each month and another driver is needed on the third Friday of each month.
Delivering meals takes only a little over one-half of a hour. This assists people in need and is very rewarding for volunteers.
To be a Mobile Meal volunteer, please call Mary Ann Ring, MMH Volunteer Coordinator, at 419-358-1015.
As part of the on-going art gallery at the Mennonite Memorial Home, local artists Lois and Gary Wetherill have a variety of their work on display.
On the third floor at MMH, Lois has a sampling of her ‘Penny Rugs’ that she has created. Based on both traditional and contemporary designs, Lois’ ‘Penny Rugs’ are completely hand-sewn using wool and wool felt.
A number of Bluffton University football players did landscaping work at Mennonite Memorial Home in Bluffton as part of the team’s third annual service day April 21. More than 75 team members went to Bluffton’s Mennonite Home Communities—also including Maple Crest Senior Living Village—to help with spring cleaning.
