Kathleen Sehlhorst was a staff member at ONU and UNOH

Visitation on Thursday in Bluffton

Kathleen M. Sehlhorst, 61, died Jan. 28, 2020 at her residence. Kathy was born June 7, 1958, in Bluffton to James and Ursula (Nussbaum) Alt. On Sept. 9, 1977, she married Chuck Sehlhorst who survives.

Kathy worked as a secretary at the Ohio Northern University - College of Pharmacy and at the University of Northwestern Ohio in Lima.  She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bluffton.  She was a graduate of the Ohio State Beauty Academy and the University of Northwestern Ohio.

Upcoming public meetings for the Village posted

Several committee meetings are on the schedule for Bluffton council in the upcoming month. Those follow:

  • Personnel Committee – Wednesday, Jan. 29 at noon
  • Pathway Board – Thursday, Feb. 6 at noon
  • Council Meeting – Monday, Feb. 10 at 7 p.m.
  • Tree Commission – Tuesday, Feb. 11 at 7 p.m.
  • Finance Committee – Wednesday, Feb. 12 at noon

The meetings will be held at the village’s town hall.

Both Beaver squads lose to Earlham

The Bluffton University women's basketball team traveled to Terre Haute, Ind. on Saturday, Jan. 25, for a matchup against the Rose-Hulman Engineers. The Beavers fought until the last seconds but dropped a 43-40 decision to the Engineers. The loss dropped Bluffton to 9-8 (3-7 HCAC), while Rose-Hulman improved to 3-14 (2-8 HCAC).

Industry sector partnership grant launches

Part of House Bill 2 signed in Bluffton on Jan. 13

Lt. Governor Jon Husted  has announced the launch of the Industry Sector Partnership grant program, which was funded through the state operating budget.

This program, which was established through House Bill 2 and funded through the state operating budget signed in 2019, invests $5 million in Industry Sector Partnerships over the biennium. The signing of House Bill 2 took place at GROB Systems, Bluffton, by Gov. Mike DeWine, on Jan. 13.

Red Cross blood drive February 6 at Bluffton First Mennonite

The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive at Bluffton First Mennonite Church on Thursday, Feb. 6 from 1-6 p.m. in the fellowship hall.

To schedule your blood donation appointment, call 1-800-RED-CROSS or go to redcrossblood.org, sponsor code “fmenncbl”. Walk-ins are also welcome.

Refreshments, including soup, sandwiches, cookies and beverages are available to all blood donors.
