More free BFR programs to "keep you active"

The sixth and final week of free wellness programs is underway at BFR Sports and Fitness. Free fitness classes and walking days are offered during the week plus demonstrations about exercise and healthy eating. Free use of the BFR indoor track is available on Sat. Feb. 20, Tues. Feb. 23, Thurs. Feb. 25, and Fr. Feb. 26. The track is open during all regular building hours (Monday through Friday, 5:30AM-9PM, Saturday 8AM-9PM, and Sunday 1-5PM). Track Passes are still available for purchase for unlimited use of the indoor track.

Several fitness classes will be offered without fee this week. On Mon. Feb. 22, All-Star Aerobics will be featured as this weeks Free Fit Class. The class will begin at 8:30am.

This week's nutritional program will be held on Thurs. Feb. 18, during the Family Open Play session (11AM-noon), Nicole Frey, A Bluffton University Food and Nutrition Wellness Major, will have handouts about healthful snacks for children. In addition, she will talk with parents about nutritional needs of children and how those differ from adults.

Family Open Play is on the schedule for a free session on Thurs. Feb. 18 from 11AM-noon. Open Play is offered Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays with the usual fee of just $1 per child.

This week will also include a Free Youth Class Coupon Day on Sun. Feb. 21, where if you pay that day, you can save $10 on any Youth After-School class. On Wed. Feb. 24 from 3:30-6pm, Free Youth Play welcomes participants from grades 6-12 to get involved in some pick-up indoor soccer games. Area youth are invited to a free session of Dodgeball on Fri. Feb. 19 at 3:30PM. Youth in grades K through grade 8 gather for informal team dodgeball versions.

Adults are welcome to drop in at BFR for volleyball play on Thurs. Feb. 18 from 8-10PM and Thurs. Feb. 25 from 8-10pm. On Sat. Feb. 27, Adult Volleyball concludes with a Free Coed Volleyball Tournament, starting at 3pm. Space is limited to 10 volleyball teams, so register quickly.

After School Soccer Program Readies Players for Spring Season.
BFR will offer an additional session of U10 Soccer Intramurals on Mondays. The program meets 1 _ hours each week (4-5:30PM) and includes foot skills work plus scrimmage play. For this program, participants must have been 7 years of age by Aug. 1, 2009. Amy Dahl is the lead instructor for the program.

Registration is open by telephone (419-358-4150) and van service is an option from Bluffton Schools. Players looking to warm up for the outdoor season or those with little or no soccer experience are welcome to register. Cost for the four remaining weeks will be $30 ($20 BFR members).

BFR to offer two different adult programs beginning in March.
Adults interested in losing weight and/or getting more physically fit are invited to join the Fit4Life program.

The 12 week package includes a 3 month BFR membership (including fitness center and indoor track use), 14 visit Any Class card, plus individual training sessions with a BFR trainer and group meetings discussing nutritional and exercise topics.

Cost for Fit4Life is $105 (BFR members receive an additional discount) and additional discounts apply if individuals sign up with a partner. The next session will begin March 8.

Ultimate Fit, beginning March 15, is a challenging exercise routine designed for physically fit individuals working together under the direction of a trainer. Ultimate members meet three times a week for a four-week package rate of $50. Each workout differs and the month's workouts increase in intensity as the month progresses.

Ultimate Fit groups meet at 5:30AM, 6PM or 9PM. Pre-registration is required and participants must be 18 years or older to be a part. Contact BFR for more information, 419-358-4150.
