Bluffton Diamond Sports thinking "spring;" softball and baseball registration coming soon

It’s January, but Bluffton Diamond Sports is already thinking about spring.
 
Diamond Sports announces 2016 baseball and softball team sign-up dates several times in January. Forms required for registration are attached to the bottom of this story.
 
Registration dates and times follow:
• Thursday, Jan. 21 – 6-8 p.m., high school gym entrance
• Friday, Jan. 29 – 6-8 p.m., high school gym entrance
• Saturday, Jan. 30 – 4:30-7 p.m., middle school cafetorium*

Jan. 17 Bluffton Area Ministerial Association pulpit exchange

In conjunction with the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, the Bluffton Area Ministerial Association will hold its annual pulpit exchange, Sunday, Jan.17, according to Rev. Kevin Mohr.
 
Churches and ministries participating this year are:
• Bill Herr of Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio, preaching at English Lutheran Church 
• Pastor Kevin Mohr of English Lutheran, preaching at St. John's United Church of Christ 
• Pastor Carol Clements of St. John's UCC, preaching at Bluffton Presbyterian

Music Together 10-week class for children starting

Registration is open for a 10-week Winter Music Together class for children, led by Laura Hartzler. Contact Hartzler at [email protected] for complete details.

The first session is at 6:30 p.m., Monday, Jan. 11, at First Mennonite Church, Bluffton.

Hartzler said: "This winter we are singing the songs and chants of the bongos  collection. We are tapping our rhythm sticks and playing kitchen instruments to American folksong "This Old Man."

Brent Warren receives FFA American Farmer Degree

Cory-Rawson High School FFA member Brent Warren of Jenera received the American Farmer Degree at the National FFA Convention in Louisville, Kentucky. 

The American FFA Degree is awarded to members who have demonstrated the highest level of commitment to FFA and made significant accomplishments in their supervised agricultural experiences (SAEs). 

FFA Advisors working with Brent were  Lindsey Regula, Megan Lawson and Beth James.

High school students have the chance to earn full-tuition scholarships to Bluffton

Dozens of scholarships will be awarded to incoming Bluffton University students who participate in the Presidential Scholarship Competition at 8:45 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 23. 

Two students who participate will receive a full tuition scholarship, valued at more than $105,000 over four years.  The recipients are chosen based on an essay written during the competition, overall grade point average and standardized test score.
