Cincinnati musician performs in next Town Hall Concert

Show will open with Hogan's Alley, featuring Jason Fritsch and Benji Bergstrand

Zapruder Point from Cincinnati will perform in a 7 p.m., Saturday, Feb.29, Bluffton Town Hall Concert Series.

Hogan's Alley, the project of Bluffton local's Jason Fritsch and Benji Bergstrand will open the show. Hogan's Alley will play an acoustic set of their rootsy Americana. The band is described as “sharing songwriting duties, standing behind consistently strong lyrics and earnest performance.”

Andrew Renner HCAC men's bball player of the week

For the second time in three weeks, the Bluffton University Men's Basketball team will house the Heartland Collegiate Player of the Week. Senior Andrew Renner (Cairo/Bath) has been named the HCAC Player of the Week just two weeks following Dezman Brown's (Elyria) recognition.

Renner put up 27.0 PPG for the week, including a career-high 33 points on 13-of-22 shooting, as the Beavers downed Hanover for their 6th straight victory on Saturday.

Both men and women's teams are Wednesday winners

The Bluffton University men's basketball team played host to Heartland Conference rival Defiance College on Wednesday, Feb. 19, in the last regular season 2019-20 game at the Sommer Center.

Bluffton rolled to a 68-52 win, improving to 15-9 (11-6 HCAC) on the strength of a school-record seventh consecutive HCAC victory. Defiance fell to 11-13 and 6-11 in the conference. The Beavers will be a top four seed when the tournament field is set following Saturday's games.

BHS musicians receive superior ratings at solo and ensemble contest

Here are results of Bluffton musicians from Saturday's solo and ensemble contest held at Lima Senior, for both band and strings. David Sycks is the band teacher. Rachael Lewis is the strings teacher. Kara Zink is the vocal teacher.

It's a legal thriller

Book signing by ONU professor Monday at the Ada Public Library

Scott Douglas Gerber, law professor at Ohio Northern University, will discuss his latest novel, “The Art of The Law,” at 7 p.m., Monday, Feb. 24, at the Ada Public Library.

Topic of the presentation will be, “Why a law professor writes fiction.”  The program is free and open to the public.

While in law school, Gerber read some novels by Attorney John Grisham (legal mysteries).  He liked the genre and thought he’d give novel writing a try.

One of the most tightly guarded secrets at Bluffton University is the identities of J. Denny and Jenny Beaver. 

Even the closest of friends, roommates and family members of the students who portray Bluffton’s mascots may have no idea who is actually in the suit.
