MMH, Maple Crest residents show their artistic talents

Four Mennonite Memorial Home residents and two Maple Crest residents were west regional winners in the 2010 AOPHA art and writing show.

Mennonite Home winners included:

Lucile Bracy, first place, "Berka Shell Doily," (woven arts)

Wayne Shafer, first place, "Zig Zag Cutting Board," (woodworking)

Ilda Bassett, second place, "Crocheted Premie Hat and Blanket," (woven arts)

Glendoris VanWaning, third place, "Refined Cape made from sweater," (wearable arts)

Ilda Bassett, honorable mention, "Crocheted House Slipper," (wearable arts)

Maple Crest winners:

Joanne Niswander, first place, "A Year of Banners," (needle arts)

Joanne Niswander, first place, "The Rest of My Life," (prose, non-fiction)

Genevieve Fast, second place, "Peaceful Waters," (fine art I)
