If you love local history and old maps, this feature should keep you busy for weeks. Here is a plot map of Richland Township from the 1870s. The Icon dates this based on the placement of the Lake Erie and Western Railroad, which was laid in 1872. It is provided to The Icon by Chris Collins.

Wow, what a map, so much infomation from years gone by. If anyone would like to see the Real Richland Twp. Map, go to the Bluffton Library. There you can view the Twp map along with all the Townships in Allen County, all in one book from the 1870's.
It is fun to look at this map and see all the places that were there then and are no longer around. Many include old churches, one room school houses,houses, roads, springs where settlers and Inidans would have gotten there water from. Maybe even a Ghost Town!! Also look for old cemeteries that are hidden from view now, but I'm sure still exsist.
