Full occupancy of all independent living units at MHCO

87 units spread among MMH, Maple Crest and Hilty Home

Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio is currently celebrating full occupancy of all independent living units throughout the organization. 

In total, there are 87 independent living units spread among the Mennonite Memorial Home and Maple Crest campuses in Bluffton, and the Hilty Home campus in Pandora. 

Of those units, 34 are independent living apartments in the main building at Maple Crest, and the other 53 are villas.

FDA approves pre-measured Gvoke (glucagon) to treat severe low blood sugar

Treating severe low blood sugar doesn't have to be complex and overwhelming. And a newly approved treatment may make things even easier.

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved Gvoke (glucagon) to be used in emergency instances of severe low blood sugar (hypoglycemia). This new approval, intended for those over the age of 2 who have diabetes, includes the following:

Clostridioides Difficile (C. diff) is a common bacterium of the human intestine. When there is a disruption in this healthy intestinal bacterium, it can lead to the overgrowth of C. diff bacteria in the colon, becoming an infection and causing diarrhea.

A C. diff infection (CDI) is common in immunosuppressed individuals and can be caused by the overuse of antibiotics

Brad Fruchey resigns from Bluffton school board

Board accepting applications to fill his position

Resignation due to purchase of Riely Creek Sportswear, which presents a conflict of interest of him serving as a school board member.

 

Brad Fruchey, a member of the Bluffton school board for the past 18 years, announced his resignation, according to Greg Denecker, Bluffton superintendent.

The board is now accepting applications from residents of the district who are interested in fillilng Fruchey's postion.

Stalwart of Bluffton Farmers Market

Bluffton Farmers Market is the place to be on Saturday mornings in town. According to the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce, our town "boasts the best farmers market in northwest Ohio."

In celebration of our small but mighty farmers market, the Icon features a market vendor each week over the course of the summer.

This week's feature vendor is Previte's Italian Home Products and Middle Eastern Delicacies.
