Peter Badertscher, a skilled cabinet maker and carpenter, was born Sept. 29, 1805, to Christian (1720-1838) and Barbara Gerber (1784-1855) in Bagischwand Emmenthal, Canton Bern, Switzerland. Peter had another brother, John, who remained in Switzerland with his parents.

We grew up in homes and went to school in buildings painted with lead paint and floors covered with asbestos tiles. The air we breathed was filled with smoke from houses heated by Little Joe, Black Star, Jewel and Pocahontas lump coal.

Jan Basinger, Bluffton EMS chief and member of the village public works department, will be the new Bluffton operator of records of its waste water plant.
The decision was made during a Bluffton council personnel committee meeting on Jan. 8, and reported to council on Jan. 11.
Basinger replaces Dan Bowden, who retired from the position at the end of 2020. Basinger holds a Class II license and is working on a Class II license, required for the position.
My advice for high schoolers today is to enjoy the experience fully. You’ll never have another time in your life that you get to experience all of the thrills of life with everyone who you grew up with.

The past two years after graduation I have been attending Cedarville University, majoring in Accounting and Finance.

That's right. Jefferson Street Phase II is on the 2021 village calendar. The project covers the street from County Line Road to the railroad. A project timeline may need to be modified since the project has a new bid opening date of Feb. 5.

Blanchard Valley Health System (BVHS) will host a Facebook Live titled “BVHS COVID-19 Update,” on Thursday, Jan. 21, at 2 p.m.
BVHS President and CEO Myron Lewis and Dr. William Kose, vice president of special projects, will discuss the organization’s planning of operations and processes that will ensure the safety and care of patients during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The event will be streamed on the health system’s Facebook page, facebook.com/BlanchardValleyHealthSystem/. Community members can “like” the corporate Facebook account of BVHS and visit the page to watch live.
