It's time to enter the Icon college football holiday bowl contest

19 bowl games played from Dec. 26 to Jan. 2 in the mix

Bluffton and Ada Icon announce its College Football Bowl Contest, open to all viewers.

The contest includes 19 bowl games played between Dec. 26 (Quick Lane Bowl) and Jan. 2 (Gator Bowl). Contestants may enter as often as they like. Contestants entering more than one time must use a different name on each additional entry. 

Prizes are still be collected. One overall winner will be announced. In the event of a tie, the contestant with the earliest entry will be declared the winner.

Some pie lovers might say that there’s nothing better in life than ordering a custom-baked Dr. Oliver Lugibihl hickory nut and black walnut pie.

And, this month you can have your Lugibihl pie and eat it too, pre-ordered from the Service Group of Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio.

The service group is accepting pie orders available for Christmas now through Friday, Dec. 19.

Pirates travel to North Baltimore in a non-league game on Saturday

ADA - Visiting Bluffton pulled away late from spunky local rival Ada to post a deceptive 60-39 Northwest Conference girls basketball win Thursday night.

The purple and gold cut Bluffton's lead to 40-33 early in the fourth quarter when sophomore guard Kirsten Poling drained a right side 17-footer.

Slow traffic on US 30 near Van Wert for the weekend

Traffic will be stopped for 15-minute intervals while overhead work completed

Traffic on U.S. 30 will be temporarily stopped in both directions for short intervals on Saturday, Dec. 14 and Sunday, Dec. 15 for maintenance on overhead transmission lines, near Van Wert. 

Traffic a half-mile west of the Middle Point Wetzel Road interchange will be temporarily stopped for 15-minute intervals, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. to removal and replacement of overhead transmission lines. 

Traffic control will be provided by LS Equipment, Inc., Delphos. Work is being performed by American Electric Power Transmission (AEP), Columbus.
