PANDORA - Visiting Bluffton went to BVC co-leader Pandora-Gilboa and lost a 59-39 non-conference boys basketball game Saturday night. 

P-G methodically outscored cold-shooting Bluffton in each quarter. They tallied 16 points in three of the four periods to win going away.

The Rockets were up 16-10 after the first quarter. The hosts extended the margin by three points to 27-18 at halftime. 

Their cushion was 43-30 heading to the final stanza. The Rockets out-pointed the Pirates 16-9 in the fourth period as well.

Bluffton swimmers win quad and dual meets

Prepare for swimming sectional on Feb. 13

The Bluffton Swim Team wo a quad meet with Lima Central Catholic, Bath and Marion Local on Friday, Jan. 22, at the Lima YMCA. 

And, on Jan. 28, Bluffton won a dual meet with Lima Senior. Results of that meet are at the bottom of this story.

The Bluffton girls 200 meter medley relay team took second place which consisted of Olivia Barnes, Ella Armstrong, Allison Diller, and Andrea Bourassa.

41 points - a new women's record

Brianna Gillig scored 41 points for Bluffton University women on Friday. She shattered a 45-year mark originally set by Laurie Blough (1975-76), later Cheryl Althaus (1980-81) and by Jen Baer (2000-01). Bluffton defeated Manchester 85-68 moving to 11-1 overall. (University photo)

The story of rural mail delivery outside Bluffton

Does RR 1 or RR 2 mean anything to you? How about initials RFD?

Those last three initials stand for “rural free delivery.” And, prior to 1901 there was no rural delivery available of any type for persons living outside of the Bluffton village.

Here’s the story, of how rural free delivery arrived in Bluffton and the eventual creation of RR 1 and RR 2, Bluffton – what are those anyway?
