Bluffton is becoming a pedestrian and bike friendly community. The map with the purple line demonstrates that very clearly. Those purple lines show the pedestrian and bike paths in the community. These include the Lions Way Bike and Pedestrian Pathway and the Triplett Bike Path.

A record number of Ohioans have requested an absentee ballot

2.1 million absentee ballot applications received by Ohio boards of elections

On the first day of early voting and with just four weeks until Election Day, Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose announced 2,154,235 absentee ballot applications have been received by county boards of elections statewide.

This includes 21,570 requests from military and overseas voters whose absentee ballots began to be mailed Sept. 18.

All other absentee ballots were mailed on Oct. 6. Over the past week, 158,839 new absentee ballot requests were submitted by Ohio voters. Totals from early in-person voting will be included in next week’s release.

John Dillinger takes the stage in a free virtual lecture from the Hancock Historical Museum this weekend.

Blanchard Valley Health System (BVHS) will host a Facebook Live titled “Our Response to COVID-19,” a part of the “State of Our Organization” series, today  (Thursday, Oct. 8) from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. 

BVHS President and CEO Scott Malaney and Dr. William Kose, vice president of special projects, will discuss the COVID-19 situation, a COVID-19 vaccine and how it will impact flu season. The event will be streamed on the health system’s Facebook page:

Drive-thru dinner Oct. 9; tickets on sale now

Bluffton Presbyterian Church will hold a drive-thru chicken/pork chop fundraiser from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 9, behind the church in the municipal parking lot.

Tickets are $8 each with options for: half-chicken, baked potato, applesauce, roll, or pork chop in place of chicken.

All proceeds go to Deacons Aid Fund for local missions.
