Bluffton Community Preschool accepting 2020-21 enrollment

Open house from 6 to 8 p.m., Jan. 30

Bluffton Community Preschool is accepting enrollments for the 2020-21 school year. 

An open house takes takes from 6 to 8 p.m.,Thursday, Jan. 30, at Bluffton Presbyterian Church, 112 N. Main St. 

"We encourage those interested in our program to stop by, take a tour of the classrooms, meet the teachers and ask questions," said Christine Clymer, chair of the preschool board. 

"If you are not able to attend, we are happy to set up a time to meet with interested parents at the preschool," she said.

I'm reading these Mother Goose rhymes to my two-year-old, as part of his bed-time stories.

Have you ever stopped to think about these nursery rhymes and what these stories or words mean?

So many of these rhymes just don't make sense: Hey diddle, diddle, the cat and the fiddle. The cow jumped over the what?

Funeral arrangements for Guy Rhodes incomplete

Guy Rhodes, 77, of Bluffton died Jan. 14, 2020, at Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus.  Arrangements are incomplete at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton.

Beavers kickoff 2020 indoor track-field season at Findlay

The Bluffton University Track and Field team kicked off the 2020 indoor season at the Findlay Open on a rainy Saturday, Jan. 11.

Showing off on the distance side was freshman Max Chandler (Liberty Township/Lakota East) who had a terrific race for his first-ever 3k! Chandler came in 7th with a time of 9:40. "He was very aggressive and confident," stated Coach Wells. Another great performance came from senior Bailie Barrington (Waynesfield/Waynesfield-Goshen) in the mile race. She placed 5th in a field of 12 with a time of 5:44. Barrington also qualified for the conference meet.

Bluffton defense stymies Musketeers

FT. JENNINGS - Visiting Bluffton suffocated Ft. Jennings and posted a 47-25 non-conference boys basketball win Saturday evening.

Bluffton led 11-7 after the first quarter, but extended the margin to 25-9 at halftime by limiting the Musketeers to just two points in the second period. 

The Pirates outscored the hosts 18-4 in the third quarter to build a commanding 43-13 cushion.

Bluffton improved to 10-1 overall with the lopsided win, their third victory in a row. Meanwhile, FJ fell to 1-11 with the defeat.
