Tremendous response to mask request from MHCO - over 770

More than 770 masks!

Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio experienced a tremendous response from the public in their request for homemade masks, according to Chris Moser. Here's a photo of some of the masks received.

The request for masks was in a letter to the Icon from Moser.

To the many people who helped make more than 770 handmade cloth masks for staff and residents of MHCO.

"Thank you for your amazing work! We have some masks reserved for the next weeks and at this time do not need any more," said Moser.

On a random drawing of all contestants who sent the Icon photos of themselves wearing masks, the winning entry drawn is Mark Sommers. He wins a 1-item, 14 -inch Padrone's Pizza.

The contest had over 30 entries.

OHSAA cancels spring sports

As school facilities to remain closed • No-contact period remains in effect at least until May 3

The Ohio High School Athletic Association informed member schools Monday, April 20, that spring sports are now cancelled, as Ohio Governor Mike DeWine announced earlier in the day that school facilities will remain closed for the remainder of the academic year due to the coronavirus COVID-19. 

OHSAA Executive Director Jerry Snodgrass sent the memo to school administrators following Governor DeWine’s press conference.
