What you need to know about Bluffton middle school reopen plans

Parents of online learners may pick up a Chrome book and required text books at the MS Friday, from 8-4 p.m.

This is the second in a three-part series of Bluffton school reopen plans by building. For the elementary information, click here. Tomorrow we will post high school details.

Sam Reineke, who knows Harmon Field as well as anyone - it played on it all the way from midgets to high school, gives the field a final mowing for Friday's game between Bluffton and Columbus Grove.

230 tests given at covid-19 pop-up test site in Lima

On Aug. 20, 230 persons were tested for COVID-19 at a drive-through test site held on the campus of Rhodes State College and The Ohio State University Lima Campus.

Allen County Public Health partnered with the Ohio National Guard and the Ohio Department of Health to host this site.

Community partners that assisted in providing the testing opportunity also include Allen County EMA, Allen County ODOT, Ohio State Highway Patrol – Lima Post, Allen County Sheriff, Lima Police Department, Bath Township Fire Department, and Allen County Traffic Control.

Volleyball team off to the races

Kylie Stackhouse led the victors with 19 kills

MT. BLANCHARD - The Bluffton volleyball team won a four-set non-league battle at Riverdale Monday night to tip off their season on a strong note. 

Bluffton defeated the Lady Falcons 25-9, 20-25, 25-18, 25-14 to start out 1-0.

Junior Kylie Stackhouse led the victors with 19 kills. Meanwhile, Taylor Schwab contributed heavily to the attack with 16 kills.

Setter Skyler Scoles dished out a whopping 42 assists and served nine aces. Kylie Monday hustled up 19 digs, and Sophie Bricker came up with nine digs.

Pirates launch 2020 season with 5-1 victory

Justin Good tallied goals in back-to-back minutes (49th, 50th) to put the game out of reach

BLUFFTON - The Bluffton boys soccer team, coming off a state runner-up showing, opened its 2020 campaign with a 5-1 home win over Pettisville Saturday night.

Jonathon Schriner kicked off the Pirate scoring with a goal in the fifth minute. 

Pettisville's Zakkai Kaufmann tied it 1-1 with a score six minutes later. 

But then Pirate Nolan Hoffman found the back of the net in the 31st minute, and Kaden Basil scored in the 40th minute to extend the lead to 3-1 at halftime.

Stone today, asphalt tomorrow

Stone goes on the pathway and then it is compacted. These steps took place today on the next leg of the Bentley Road North Lions Pedestrian and Bicycle Pathway. On Tuesday asphalt will be laid on the path. A September virtual ribbon cutting is planned.
