Ohio sports activities will allow contact practice for all sports starting Monday

Ohio Lt. Governor Husted also announced that Phase II of the Responsible RestartOhio plan for sports activities will allow contact practice for all sports to resume on Monday, June 22. 

"This means football, lacrosse, and other contact sports can resume scrimmages and full training regiments as long as safety protocols are observed," said Lt. Governor Husted.

"Although June 22 is the day contact practice may begin, it will ultimately be up to local sports organizers and high school leaders on when is the best time to proceed."

Carrie Miller operated Carrie's Country Corner and Miller's Ice Cream

Was a 4-H leader and summer softball coach

Carrie J. Miller, 88, died on June 18, 2020, at her residence.  Carrie was born May 9, 1932 in Pandora, Ohio, to the late Ernest and Lona (Welty) Bauman.  On June 3, 1950, she married John Miller who preceded her in death on Oct. 1, 2018. 

Carrie graduated from Pandora High School and was a homemaker.  She had also worked at Ingalls Restaurant, Reichenbach Lumber, Nickerson Farms, and owned and operated Carrie's Country Corner and Miller's Ice Cream.

Volunteers invited for several "hands-on" projects

MHCO needs assistance with flower planting, painting and landscaping

Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio invites area volunteers to assist in several "hands-on" projects this summer, according to Jessica Strahm, volunteer coordinator.

Ohio's "Responsible Restart Ohio Plans” moving forward for businesses meeting mandatory safety requirements for customers, employees and volunteers enables MHCO to invite persons for volunteer projects.

Four area seniors received Bluffton Lions Club scholarships this spring.

Ana Neufeld Weaver, Bluffton, major in music education
Riley Garmatter, Cory-Rawson, major in early childhood education
Brandon Zuercher, Cory-Rawson, major as an animal nutritionist
