Allen County returns to Risk Level 3 (Red) for COVID-19

Recent public health data has led the Ohio Department of Health to designate Allen County as being in a Red Alert Level 3 as defined by the Ohio Public Health Advisory System. 

Allen County moves into Red after being in Orange Level 2 since Aug. 13.

The information contained in this Public Health Update describes the alert and the safety measures everyone needs to take to slow the spread of COVID-19.

This update also explains what Allen County residents need to know to comply with current orders of the Director of the Ohio Department of Health.

An important Bluffton senior citizen turns 50 this year

An important Bluffton senior citizen celebrates 50 years on Dec. 7 – and wait a minute, how can a senior citizen be only 50?

Answer: It’s the Bluffton Senior Citizen Association.

The December event is a combined Christmas, anniversary and annual meeting party, according to Tonya Meyer, director. It will take place at The Centre at Bluffton and additional details are still being put together.

The event includes a lunch, vote on board members, an annual memorial service and celebration of some of its members reaching 90 years.

Board focuses on in-person living and learning efforts, discusses university’s strategic plan, learns about increased diversity and inclusion efforts on campus

The Bluffton University Board of Trustees met via Zoom in October for their annual fall meeting.

Trustees spent the majority of time reviewing in-person living and learning efforts, discussing the implementation of the university’s strategic plan, and learning about increased diversity and inclusion efforts on campus. 

Board members were provided updates on Bluffton’s COVID-19 response from members of cabinet. They also approved a resolution to recognize the substantial work of faculty and staff in reopening campus amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Rarities is the eighth compilation album by American singer-songwriter Mariah Carey, released in October by Columbia and Legacy Records.

The artist is also a record producer, actress, entrepreneur, and philanthropist. Carey is the definition of megastar and has the talent to more than back that description.

Take a hike

A new crosswalk is now in place at North Main and Lake Street. The crosswalk helps identify the pedestrian and bike pathway of the Triplett Bike Path, which connects the Buckeye to Lake Street. The pathway board paid $3,400 to complete the project, which included ADA compliant curb ramps, thermoplastic markings, signage and road repair.
