Big 2nd period leads Pirate boys over Bearcats

32-point second period outburst by Bluffton

BLUFFTON - Host Bluffton outscored Spencerville 32-14 in the second period and went on to post a convincing 71-52 Northwest Conference boys basketball win Friday evening.

The Pirates improved to 12-3 overall and 4-1 in NWC play with the win. Meanwhile, the Bearcats fell to 2-12 and 0-4 in the NWC with the loss.

Bluffton led 16-11 after the first period. Seniors Luke Denecker and Mason Soper then scored 13 points apiece in the second period as the hosts built a commanding 48-25 intermission advantage.

LIMA - The Bluffton wrestling team finished a strong 12th out of 41 teams at the Thunderbird Invitational hosted by Lima Central Catholic Friday and Saturday.

The Pirates scored 76 points to finish just a point behind Woodmore in 12th place. Waynedale won the meet with 246.5 points, followed closely by Allen East in second at 229.5.

Dr. Mark Weiner joins Fostoria Primary Care

Dr. Mark Weiner, a family practice physician, has joined Fostoria Primary Care, a division of Blanchard Valley Health System, and will begin seeing patients located at 617 N. County Line St., Fostoria.

Dr. Weiner will be providing primary care and internal medicine to all ages. Services will include care for chronic diseases such as asthma and diabetes, family planning and reproductive counseling and routine check-ups for overall health.
