The Bluffton University men's soccer team fell to Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology by a 3-0 count on Sunday, Oct. 23, 2011. The Beavers slipped to 2-14 and 1-6 in the Heartland Conference, while the Engineers improved to 12-5 overall and 6-1 in the HCAC following their victory.

William Senat put Rose-Hulman up 1-0 at the 17-minute mark of the opening stanza thanks to a nice feed from Ben Green. Rose standout Clint Vatterrodt made it 2-0 in minute 32 on a penalty kick. Zane Englert capped the scoring with his first goal of the season 12 minutes later for the final 3-0 score. The Beavers kept fighting throughout the second period, keeping the visitors from adding to their goal tally.

The Engineers fired 11 more shots than Bluffton (16-5), while forcing five more corner kicks (6-1). The Bluffton goalkeepers combined for five saves with senior Dan Saville (Toledo/Central Catholic) picking up three and freshman Jorge Becerril (Sturgis, Mich./Sturgis) fending off two attempts.

Bluffton returns to the pitch for a matchup with rival Defiance College on Wednesday, Oct. 26. The men follow the women with a 4 p.m. contest against the Yellow Jackets at Defiance.
