English Lutheran Church begins in-person worship on Sunday morning

English Lutheran Church, 111 Grove St., Bluffton, will begin in-person worship on Sunday, June 7, according to Kevin Mohr, pastor.

The worship service, with COVID-19 social distancing seating and other precautions in place, will take place simultaneously live in the sanctuary (face-masks required for ages 12 and up), and live-streamed on Facebook in the fellowship hall (face masks encouraged but optional), beginning at 9 a.m.  

Holy Communion, with hygiene precautions, will be offered for those comfortable with partaking of the sacrament at this time.

Here’s how Beaver men’s sports teams finished in HCAC

The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology has won the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Men's All-Sports Trophy following the completion of the 2019-20 season. This is the Fightin' Engineers 11th title since the awards inception.

Rose-Hulman had a well-rounded year, capturing men's soccer and men's indoor track and field titles. The Fightin' Engineers also took second place in men's cross country, football and men's swimming and diving.

Director of Athletics Jeff Jenkins is at the helm of the athletic department at Rose-Hulman.

SHANNON Service Club announces three $800 scholarships

Recipients are Ana Neufeld Weaver, Kaitylnn Rieman and Luke Denecker

The S.H.A.N.N.O.N. Service Club of Bluffton announces the winners of its “Service To Humanity” Scholarship Awards, given to graduating seniors of Bluffton High School. 
Here are this year's outstanding $800 scholarship winners: 

• Ana Neufeld Weaver, daughter of Paul and Laurel Neufeld Weaver. Ana will enter the field of music education at Goshen College.

• Kaitlynn Rieman, daughter of James and Jennifer Rieman. Kaitlynn intends to pursue a degree in nursing at Ohio Northern University.

Book it to the library

Patrons of Bluffton Public Library may now drop off checked out library materials and schedule pickups of available library materials, according to Jessica Hermiller, library director. All library material drop-offs may be done at the library's 24-hour outdoor book drop only. Hanover College wins HCC women’s all-sports title

Hanover College was named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Women's All-Sports Champion following the 2019-20 campaign. The Panthers accumulated 62.3 points in the standings to garner the award, capturing their ninth overall women's title.
