Coping with Winter Allergies

You can fight winter allergies with these 10 steps

It's winter and, just like clockwork, you’re back sniffling again. But before you write off that stuffy nose as just another cold, you may want to consider that the culprit could actually be winter allergies.

Fortunately, there are steps you can take to tame your bothersome allergies.

Bluffton plays at Miller City Saturday

BLUFFTON - Homestanding Bluffton held local rival Allen East to 15 second-half points to win their annual Northwest Conference girls basketball battle 50-37 Thursday evening.

The Lady Pirates snapped a three-game losing streak with the victory. They outscored the Mustang girls 26-15 after intermission to prevail by 13 points.

The game was tied 10-10 after a tight first quarter of play. Bluffton inched into a 24-22 lead by halftime, then pulled ahead by eight with a 10-4 third stanza.

Rick Davies was retired from Lima Ford Plant

A 1963 Bluffton HS graduate, his brother Morgan died on Jan. 28

Richard “Rick” M. Davies, 75, died after a brief illness on Feb. 4, 2021, at Blanchard Valley Hospital in Findlay. He was born April 3, 1945, in Bluffton to the late Richard and Vernice (McElroy) Davies.

Rick was a 1963 graduate of Bluffton High School. He had worked at the Little Red Barn in Bluffton and retired from the Lima Ford Engine Plant.

About 60 years ago, more or less, I received a polio vaccine delivered in a sugar cube.

This was administered twice, on different Sundays after church services, in the multi-purpose room of the Bluffton elementary school.

I recall walking from First Methodist Church to the school to stand in line for the vaccine. I can’t remember who gave me the sugar cubes.

And, about four hours ago, I received the first of two covid-19 vaccinations. Jane Agner, nurse at Bluffton Hospital, gave me the vaccine.

Once upon a time, "snowmen" smoked pipes, and wore climate-changing coal ornament. Not this year. Here's a modern Bluffton "snow person" in appropriate 2021 garb - wearing a mask.
