OHSAA cancels spring sports

As school facilities to remain closed • No-contact period remains in effect at least until May 3

The Ohio High School Athletic Association informed member schools Monday, April 20, that spring sports are now cancelled, as Ohio Governor Mike DeWine announced earlier in the day that school facilities will remain closed for the remainder of the academic year due to the coronavirus COVID-19. 

OHSAA Executive Director Jerry Snodgrass sent the memo to school administrators following Governor DeWine’s press conference.

Governor Mike DeWine announced today that Ohio schools will continue distance learning for the remainder of the academic calendar, according to an announcement on OhioAlerts this afternoon. Watch the Icon for more details on Tuesday.

BCE Triplett Business Plan Competition winners announced Thursday

The competition will award $6,000 n business expense reimbursement

The Bluffton Center for Entrepreneurs will announce first, second, and third place awards in the 2020 Ropp Triplett Business Plan Competition on Thursday, April 23. The competition will award $6,000 in business expense reimbursement, according to Paula Scott, of BCE.

The awards will be recorded as a Zoom meeting and shared on Facebook as well as on www.BlufftonEntrepreneurs.com.

Harmon Field and Steinmet Field lights go on – with many other HS stadium light across the state

2020 high school seniors throughout the county have spent the last few weeks of their high school education away from teachers, classroooms and friends.

To show support for all seniors in Ohio, many schools across the state will light up their stadium for seniors.

The Icon understands that all stadium lights in the Northwest Conference, including Harmon Field and Steinmetz Field lights, will turn on for 20 minutes and 20 seconds at 8:20 p.m. tonight (Monday, April 20, 2020).
