Bluffton, Indiana, was nicknamed “The Parlor City” over a century ago because its paved streets (a new phenomenon at the time) made the city “as clean as your parlor."
The Friends of the Bluffton Public Library host a Spring Tea at 5:45 p.m., Thursday, April 12, in the Richland Room of the library.
Tickets can be purchased in the library for $12. Only a few remain for sale.
After a light meal, a program titled the Victorian Secret: The Secret Behind the Bustle will be presented. The role of women changed during the reign of Queen Victoria and as the role changed, so did the fashions.
