Bridge Bereavement Services to host Forever Memories Group

Bridge Bereavement Services will be offering a Forever Memories Group focused on loss, grief and healing through the creation of a memory frame. The group will be held on Tuesday, March 6 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Meadows of Ottawa, 147 Putnam Parkway, Ottawa.

The group is open to any adult who has recently experienced the death of a loved one. Participants are welcome to come commemorate their loved one’s life and memories through the creation of the frame. The loved one did not need to be a patient of Bridge Home Health & Hospice.

Get ready for Tuesday's chili cookoff

A community chili cook-off takes place Tuesday, Feb. 20, from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Bluffton Middle School Cafetorium. 

This is the second year for the event that supports Bluffton Community Assistance, Corp., the local food pantry, with money and collected food donations.

The cook-off features 10 local chili entries to taste, plus sandwiches and desserts. In addition, free entertainment will be provided by Dancers Elite Dance Studio and Krysti’s Music Studio, both of Bluffton.

February and March are full of activities at Bluffton elementary. Here's an overview of calendar items:

TESTING DAYS:  Students in grades 3-5 will take Ohio English Language Arts tests on April 12 and 13. They will take Ohio Math tests on April 26 and 27.  Fifth grade students will take Ohio Science tests on May 1 and 2.  Second grade students will take Iowa achievement tests March 26-April 6.

Simeon Thomas Birkey, Feb. 9, 2018

Simeon Thomas Birkey was born without heartbeat on Feb. 9, 2018, at Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay.  Simeon was born to Phil and Esther (Clarke) Birkey, Bluffton. Also surviving is a brother, Elisha, at home. 

Other surviviors are Gwen Clarke, grandmother, Newtownards, United Kingdom,  Dale and Mary Birkey, grandparents, Bunker Hill, Ind., and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Preceeding him in death was David Clarke, a grandfather.

There will be no service held.

BHS girls head into sectional with 16-6 mark

Bluffton outscored Delphos early and was able to fend off the Wildcats in a 45-41 win.  Averey Rumer, pictured, poured in 18 points. Alivia Koenig scored 9 and Kayla White 8.
