Webb Insurance relocates to 105 S. Main St.

The independent agency was previously on North Main

Webb Insurance Agency’s Bluffton office has relocated from 138 N. Main St. to 105 S. Main St. and is now servicing customers in its new location. The new Webb office is in the former Jordan Diller Insurance (JDI) storefront.

Stephanie Larcom is the licensed agent and manager of the Bluffton Webb office. She has been with Webb since 2000. Amber Doty, customer service agent, also in the office, has worked for Webb for three years.

University nutrition students to host Lunch and Learn series

Bluffton University’s junior nutrition students will host the 2020 Lunch and Learn series on Wednesdays, from Feb. 12 to April 15 on the first floor of Berky Hall. The demonstrations are free and open to the public; however, just 15 seats are available for each lunch. Reserve a spot by contacting Katie Kline at 567-215-7494 or [email protected].

Bluffton Legion commemorates heroic chaplains

during service on Feb. 3 at St. John's

In commemoration of the sacrifice of four armed forces Chaplains during World War II, Bluffton American Legion Post 382 will take part in a special Sunday service, Feb. 2 at the St. John’s United Church of Christ, 233 W. College Ave, according to Basil Meyer, Chaplain of Post 382. 

The public is welcome to attend the service, which begins at 10:30 a.m.

Legion officials and clergy are planning special programs for the observance of the 77th Anniversary of the sinking of the USS Dorchester and the heroism demonstrated by four Chaplains.

Mercy Health – St. Rita’s Scholarship Program accepting applications

Mercy Health – St. Rita’s Medical Center announces the 2020 Mercy Health – St. Rita’s Scholarship Program is now accepting applications.

The program for high school seniors graduating in the spring of 2020, allocates $1,500 scholarships to students from our community and region who are interested in pursuing careers as medical professionals.

Students in Allen, Auglaize, Hardin, Hancock, Logan, Mercer, Paulding, Putnam, Shelby and Van Wert counties may apply. Applications can be found at more than 70 high schools and career centers around the 10 county districts.

Carol Ann Gibbs worked at MMH and Gillette's Bakery

Carol Ann Gibbs, 76, died Jan. 29, 2020, at the Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay. Carol was born July 28, 1943, in Findlay to the late Robert and Evelyn (Coppler) Foltz. On March 19, 1961, she married David Gibbs who preceded her in death on Dec. 15, 2012. 

Carol graduated from Findlay High School. She had worked in the laundry department at Mennonite Memorial Home, at Gillette's Bakery in Bluffton, in the shoe department at Elder-Beerman and was a receptionist at H & R Block.
