Cars and coffee Saturday morning at Heated Vehicle Storage

The second Bluffton cars and coffee event of the season is from 8 to 11 a.m., Saturday, June 25, according to Tim Boutwell of Heated Vehicle Storage, 906 N. Main St.

“Cars and coffee is a gathers of auto enthusiasts where drivers congregation to enjoy a cup of coffee and kick tires,” said Boutwell. “There is something for everyone including classics, exotics, sports cars, luxury cars, imports and domestics.”

The event is open to the public. Coffee and pastries are provided by Common Grounds.

Door prizes are awarded every 15 minutes.

Julie Schmidt was a BHS grad; worked at DTR Industries for 18 years

Julie Ann Schmidt, 56, of Pandora died June 24, 2016, at 9:17 a.m. at the Meadows of Ottawa. Julie was born Oct. 27, 1959, in Bluffton to Don and Pat (Joseph) Schmidt who survive in Pandora.

Julie worked at DTR Industries in Bluffton for 18 years.  She graduated from Bluffton High School and obtained her associate's degree from Lima Technical College.

University board recognizes trustees, appoints new member, approves new scholarships

The Bluffton University Board of Trustees appointed one new board member and thanked two outgoing board members for their years of dedicated service during the trustees’ spring meeting.

Tom Reichenbach ’58 was thanked for 11 years of service as a trustee and as a member of the Advancement Committee, Martha Augsburger Showalter ’72 was recognized for 12 years of service as a trustee and as a member of the Academic Affairs Committee and Charles Stapleton ’78 was appointed to the board beginning in July.

Waters down; all that remains is the dried mud

Today the waters have subsided.

But, yesterday morning this was the scene (above) at the Buckeye park from Spring Street.

The below photo shows a stream crossing the Hardin County Line south of County Line Church of the Brethren. That stream was still high on Thursday evening and traffic was unable to cross.
