It's Miller City over Lady Pirates

MILLER CITY - Visiting Bluffton fell behind by 19 at halftime and lost 62-51 to non-conference foe Miller City in a girls basketball game Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Pirates trailed 14-7 after the first period of play. MC then blew the game open with a 24-point second quarter to build a 38-19 advantage at intermission.

The Pirate girls outscored the Lady Wildcats 16-12 in each of the last two stanzas, but could not overcome the big halftime deficit.

Bluffton boys cage Falcons    

Senior Nic Essinger scored 12 of his season-high 18 points in the first half to pace the victors.

BLUFFTON - Homestanding Bluffton built a double-digit halftime lead and went on to post a 62-52 win over Riverdale in a non-conference boys basketball contest Saturday night. 

Four Pirates scored in double figures to spearhead a balanced offensive effort.

The Pirates led 19-13 after the first period as four players tallied at least four points each. Bluffton extended the advantage to 38-27 at intermission. 

The foes played to an almost even 25-24 second-half score.

Bluffton boys seeded 11th at sectionals; will host Tinora

BLUFFTON - The Bluffton boys basketball team was seeded 11th out of 13 teams at the Lima Senior Div. III sectional/district drawings held Sunday.

The Pirate boys (7-11) will host 13th-seeded Defiance Tinora (4-10) Wednesday, February 24 in a sectional semifinal. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.

The winner will visit top-seeded Ottawa-Glandorf (13-3) Friday, Feb. 26 at 7 p.m. in the second round. The host Titans beat the Pirates 63-50 January 2 in a game that was closer than the final score indicates.

Cory-Rawson Kindergarten registration online

Registration for the 2021-2022 Kindergarten classes in the Cory-Rawson Local School District can be accomplished on-line this year on the Cory-Rawson web page: cory-rawson.k12.oh.us        

You can schedule your time for Kindergarten screening during the registration process. A Birth Certificate, dated immunization records, Social Security number, proof of district residency and any custody papers that pertain to the student are to be presented at the time of your appointment at the Kindergarten Screening on March 16.

Bluffton Bread Co. will sell Valentine’s Day flavor Feb. 13 and Feb. 16

Downtown Bluffton has several Valentine's Day offerings to those in search of the perfect Valentine. One is from the Bluffton Bread Co.

The company is back for Valentine’s Day with a new specialty flavor—Red Velvet and Dark Chocolate.

A limited amount of Red Velvet and Dark Chocolate Bread will be exclusively available through two cash and carry sales at Roots by Strattons at 111 S. Main St. 

• Saturday, Feb. 13 – 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
• Tuesday, Feb. 16 – 11 a.m.-7 p.m. during the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce Chocolate Walk

LeeAnn White wins Bluffton Icon Super Bowl contest

LeeAnn White of Bluffton is the winner of the Bluffton Icon Super Bowl contest. She predicted a Tampa Bay win by 13 points, which was the widest point spread among all entries.

She wins a 14-inch, 1-item Padrone's Pizza. Coincidentially, the Ada winner, Howard Fenton also picked Tampa Bay by 13.
