Bluffton schools canceled today

The fog wins. Bluffton schools are canceled today, Monday, Oct. 5.

The morning began with a 2-hour delay and then moved to a 3-hour day at 8:29 a.m. The cancellation announcement was made on Ohio Alerts at 9:29 a.m.

Pirate gridders face Falcons in playoffs Oct 10

BHS seeded 19th and Riverdale 14th in region 22

BLUFFTON - The Bluffton HS football team will face Riverdale Saturday, Oct. 10, in round one of the Div. VI, region 22 2020 state playoffs. 

Brackets and pairings were released Thursday by the Ohio High School Athletic Association.

The coaches in region 22 voted Bluffton (2-2) the 19th seed among 26 teams. The Falcons (3-2) were seeded 14th in region 22.

The Bluffton/Riverdale winner will play at third seed Sherwood Fairview in round two on Saturday, Oct. 17. Fairview received a first round bye as one of the top six seeds.

Why is the Bluffton High School mascot a pirate? And, what’s the story behind the Lady Pirate logo?

In the dawn of Bluffton High School athletics the school played an independent schedule in all sports. Its team colors were red and white, but those teams were not called the Pirates. They had no mascot.
