Ryan DeMarco opens Edward Jones office on North Main

Grand opening and ribbon cutting on Feb. 14

Ryan DeMarco announces the opening of an Edward Jones office at 111 N. Main St., Bluffton.

The office is in the former Scoreboard storefront. 

As a Financial Advisor, DeMarco provides clients with all of the services available from Edward Jones. These services include, but are not limited to, estate considerations, retirement planning, education planning, and preparing for the unexpected.

Prior to the office’s opening DeMarco had extensive renovation completed to it.

University president Jane Wood "tells her story"

“How do the stories you choose to tell shape how others see you or even how you see yourself?” Dr. Jane Wood, president of Bluffton University posed this question during her Jan. 31 Colloquium presentation “A Life in Story: The Construction of Personal Narrative.”

During the presentation, Wood reflected on the role of narrative and how and what we choose to tell others, and ourselves, shapes our lives.

Bluffton girls travel to Allen East tonight

FINDLAY - Defensively tough host Liberty-Benton smothered Bluffton 50-30 in a non-conference girls basketball battle Tuesday night.

The 10th-ranked Lady Eagles limited Bluffton to 17 points through the first 24 minutes as they built a 22-point cushion.

Bluffton trailed 16-9 after one period, and L-B extended its lead to 28-13 at halftime. The Eagles stretched the advantage to 39-17 after three quarters. 

The Bluffton offense got untracked late and won the fourth period, 13-11.

Climate change workshop Saturday

Are you concerned about climate change?

Become a Climate Advocate by joining the Citizen’s Climate Lobby (CCL), a nationwide bipartisan group, dedicated to lobbying Congress for climate solutions.

Anyone interested should attend the Climate Advocate Training workshop on Saturday, Feb. 8 at the library (in the Monroe Room) from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. 

Representatives from CCL will cover their mission and values, history and successes, the structure of local chapters, and relevant skills. This workshop is part of establishing a local CCL chapter.

Blood drive still on for today

1 to 6 p.m., at First Mennonite Church

Despite the weather, the American Red Cross blood drive at First Mennonite Church is happening as scheduled (Thursday, Feb. 6) from 1-6 p.m. in the fellowship hall.

If you haven't scheduled an appointment, not to worry. Walk-ins are welcome. Since school is cancelled, there are plenty of parking spaces today.

One cancellation to report
• The Thursday, Feb. 6, community meal at the Bluffton Senior Citizens Center is cancelled, according to Tonya Meyer.
