Feb. 29 is "just another day" to Zachary Basinger

Zachary Basinger says that it’s just another day.
 
The “just another day” is Feb. 29. On it he’ll celebrate his 16th or 4th birthday, since he is a leap year baby.

Mary Core Geiger graduated from Columbus Grove HS in 1944

Mary Allene Core Geiger, 89, of Pandora died at 7:15 pm Feb. 26, 2016, at the Hilty Memorial Home, Pandora.  Mary was born Sept. 3, 1926 in Pleasant Township in Putnam County to the late Raymond V. Core and Eva Esther (Smith) Core.  On Dec.15, 1945 she married Francis C. Geiger who survives.

She grew up on a farm near Columbus Grove and graduated from Columbus Grove High School in 1944.

Bluffton Pirates advance to districts after shocking Coldwater 60-59

Bluffton High School boys’ avenged a history of tournament losses to Coldwater tonight (Feb. 25).
 
Playing in the underdog role, the Pirates defeated Coldwater 60-59 on a game-winning 3-pointer by Joel Siefker. The game was at the Elida Fieldhouse.
 
The win moves Bluffton to the district tournament next week. Watch the Icon for more game details.

Bluffton 71 Transylvania 60

CLICK HERE TO WATCH THE FINAL 2 MINUTES - For the first time ever, Bluffton University's women's basketball team advanced to the championship round of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament. Bluffton defeated Transylvania at home 71-60. The title game has Bluffton vs. Rose Hulman at 5 p.m. Saturday. RH defeated Franklin 68-55 on Friday.
