Here are the births announcements from Bluffton Hospital for September and October:

Sept. 2 - Hayes Gregory Michael, son of Bryn and Brynne Steffan, Arlington.

Sept. 4 - Scarlett Allyn, daughter of Blake Williams and Celeste Montgomery, Ada.

Sept. 10 - Cecilia James, daughter of Joshua and Crystal McGrain, Arlington.

Sept. 15 - Aldrik Joseph, son of David and Mary Burgei, Ottawa.

Sept. 18 - Ellisyn Mae, daughter of Cody Roeder and Amanda Boyed, Columbus Grove.

Sept. 23 - Kamila Grey, daughter of Anthony and Sarah Serda, Findlay.

Two Bluffton congregations receive local funding

St. Mary's Catholic, First Mennonite, receive Activate Faith Community Challenge funds

Two Bluffton churches are among 13 Allen County congregations to receive Activate Faith Community Challenge funds from the Activate Allen County this fall.

First Mennonite will receive funding to support multi-age physical activities and make options accessible to its congregation through partnership with the Bluffton Family Recreation Center.

St. Mary’s Catholic Church, through its preschool, will use its funding to increase the children’s access to physical activity by providing appropriate and meaningful activity equipment.

Plant-your-own Bulb workshop tonight

The Gardeners of the Bluffton-Pandora Area hold their monthly meeting tonight at 6:30 p.m. at the library, in the lower meeting room.  Tonight is a hands-on workshop discussing and planting flower bulbs. See above for details.

State auditor shares ethics, transparency

October Bluffton University Forum

Keith Faber, Ohio’s Auditor of State, spoke on the importance of transparency, both in business and in government, during his Forum presentation, “Business is Better in the Sunlight” on Oct. 22.

“We think this was a great opportunity for Bluffton University students to get exposure to a high-profile person like this, to see how state funds are used and the safeguards and mechanisms that are put in place to ensure tax payer dollars are spent wisely,” said Dr. Jason Swartzlander, professor of accounting.

Bluffton PD apprehend two on felony drug charges

Bluffton police apprehended two Michigan residents and booked them on numerous felony drug charges following an early Sunday morning incident in the area of the Fairway Inn.
