School will continue 4 days in-person through second grading period

Nov. 3, election day, will become a remote learning day

Bluffton schools will continue its four days of in-person learning and Fridays as remote-learning during the second nine week period, which ends Jan. 15, 2021, according to Greg Denecker, superintendent.

"Our plan of four days of in-person learning and Fridays as remote-learning-for-all has been successful, we will continue with this model into the second nine weeks," he said in a letter on the school website yesterday.

Village will flush hydrants starting this week

The Village of Bluffton will begin its the bi-annual flushing of the fire hydrants this week, according to Bryan Lloyd, assistant village administrator.

"The process should take approximately two weeks to complete," he said, adding,  "In the past, some residents have reported discoloration of the water during this process."

The discoloration usually subsides within a few hours of the flushing being completed in the area. Running a spigot for a few minutes can also help.

Senior Citizens Center holds flu shot clinic on Wednesday

Bluffton Senior Center will hold a flu shot clinic on from 10 a.m. to noon, Wednesday, Oct. 7, at the center, 132 N. Main St.

Ohio Northern University Pharmacy students will offer the clinic. Persons should bring Medicare or insurance cards and wear a short sleeve shirt and mask.

There will be a limit of 15 persons at a time, in the building.

Donald Fleming was active in many Ada community organizations

Served as an Ada council member for 39 years

Ada resident Donald “Don” Fleming, 77, died on Monday, Oct. 5, 2020.

Don was born on Feb, 9, 1943, in Liberty Township, Hardin County to Clarence and Geneva (Reichenbach) Fleming. He married Connie Fleming on June 19, 1976, and he raised two sons – Mark and Steve Browne.

He retired from the Mid-Ohio Energy Cooperative after 22 years. Over his career, he also worked for Agro Sytems and the Ada Farmers Exchange Company. He was an active member of Ada First United Methodist Church where he served on various committees.
