Child Development Center announces participation in USDA-funded food program

Bluffton Child Development Center, 325 County Line Road, Bluffton, announces sponsorship of the USDA-funded child and adult care food program for fiscal year 2021, announced Francine Donathan, BCDC director.

For more details contact the Center. The attached chart shows income eligibility guidelines for free and reduced price meals effective July 1, 2020, through June 30, 2021.

Especially in this pandemic situation, the S.H.A.N.N.O.N. Service Club of Bluffton (in conjunction with the Village of Bluffton, the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Bluffton American Legion) says thank you to the many businesses and individuals who helped to sponsor the 2020 Main Street flag proejct. The cooperation among so many people who helped this project in so many ways is truly inspiring. And the stories behind the people who are honored and memorialized are heartwarming.

The app is simple and easy to understand, no matter how comfortable (or uncomfortable!) one may be with new technology. It works on an iPhone and the Android smartphone.  

It's my personal check-in buddy that I've used for well over two years. It gives me the confidence knowing someone has my back and is looking out for my safety.

Jim Green was a 1953 Bluffton High School graduate

Former Bluffton resident James “Jim” Henry Green, 85, of Harlingen, Texas, died Friday, Sept. 4, 2020. He was born March 6, 1935, in Lima, to Henry and Louise Green.

Jim was raised on a farm in Bluffton. After graduating from Bluffton High School in 1953, he attended Ohio State University in Columbus from 1953 to 1955. 

Prior to completing a degree, Jim entered the United States Air Force aviation cadet program in Harlingen, Texas, in 1956. He graduated from the program and received his commission as a 2nd Lieutenant.

Bluffton Presbyterian holds chicken/pork chop dinner fundraiser

Drive-thru dinner Oct. 9; tickets on sale now

Bluffton Presbyterian Church will hold a drive-thru chicken/pork chop fundraiser from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 9, behind the church in the municipal parking lot.

Tickets are $8 each with options for: half-chicken, baked potato, applesauce, roll, or pork chop in place of chicken.

All proceeds go to Deacons Aid Fund for local missions.

Life-long Bluffton resident, Helen Edinger, was 102

Helen Edinger, 102, died Sept. 23, 2020, at the Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton. Helen was born Feb. 2, 1918, in Hancock County, Ohio, to the late Ira and Emma (Tschiegg) Wilkins. On Nov. 16, 1941, she married Robert Edinger who preceded her in death on Jan. 20, 1974.
