Bluffton for Hope/Relay for Life needs volunteers

This year’s Bluffton for Hope Glow Run/Relay for Life is from 6 p.m. to midnight, Friday, June 21, at Bluffton Family Recreation, 215 Snider Road.

Volunteers are needed for several activities and times, listed below. Contact Lynda Best at 419-296-2790 for details.

Lunch and learn on paying for education expenses on May 29

On Wednesday, May 29, Citizens National Bank and Citizens Wealth Management Group will present the second in a series of lunch and learns aimed at helping people make financial decisions and navigate life events. This session will be held at the Lima office, 201 N. Main St., in the training room, at noon.

BVHS Scott Malaney receives distinguished service award

From Ohio Hospital Association

CEO and President of Blanchard Valley Health System (BVHS) Scott Malaney has been nominated and selected to receive the Ohio Hospital Association’s 2019 James R. Castle Distinguished Service Award. 

The award honors Malaney as an individual whose professional attainments embody qualities of an outstanding leader and mentor for service to the community.

Malaney will be presented with this award at the Ohio Hospital Association 2019 Annual Meeting and Education Summit on June 4 in Columbus.

20 new apprentices start at GROB on June 3

2019 candidate pool proved to be tremendously talented and competitive with over 100 applications received

The Bluffton GROB apprenticeship training team is busy preparing for 20 new apprentices to start on Monday, June 3. 

The new class will join 81 current apprentices in their second, third or fourth year of the program, bringing the total number of apprentices at GROB to 101.

The 2019 candidate pool proved to be tremendously talented and competitive with over 100 applications received.

Bluffton native Terry Marshall Memorial Day speaker

Monday's event includes parade, Maple Grove ceremony and chicken barbecue

Bluffton observes Memorial Day on Monday, May 27, according to the Bluffton American Legion Post 382.

Parade
A parade forms at 9:15 a.m. at the Bluffton town hall and moves out at 9:30 a.m., ending at Maple Grove Cemetery. The service at the Cemetery begins at 10 a.m.
