Pastor to address Sabbath in Spiritual Life Week forum March 17

A California pastor will address the importance of Sabbath in Bluffton University’s Spiritual Life Week forum on Tuesday, March 17.

Justin McRoberts, from Shelter Covenant Church in Concord, Calif., will speak about “Sabbath—The Still and Isolated Road to Active Unity in Christ” during the 11 a.m. forum in Bluffton’s Founders Hall. The presentation is free and open to the public.

Camerata Singers present home concert March 15

Bluffton University’s Camerata Singers, back from a spring-break tour in seven Midwestern states, will reprise the tour program, “Sing Ye Praises with understanding,” in the annual Camerata Home Concert on Sunday, March 15. The concert, beginning at 2:30 p.m. in Yoder Recital Hall, is free and open to the public.

Paquin to discuss American apartheid at Friday colloquium

A Bluffton University faculty member who has conducted research in the Ferguson, Mo., area will present a March 13 campus colloquium aimed at helping provide better understanding of the aftermath of the Michael Brown shooting last August.

Dr. Walter Paquin, assistant professor of social work at Bluffton University, will discuss “Ongoing ‘American Apartheid’: St. Louis County 1990-2010” at 4 p.m. Friday in Stutzman Lecture Hall in Centennial Hall. The talk is free and open to the public.

Lincoln Highway group meets in Van Wert March 17

The March meeting of the Western Ohio Chapter of the Lincoln Highway Association will take place on Tuesday, March 17.  Members and guests will dine at the Wild Hare BBQ, 903 W. Main St. in Van Wert at 6 p.m.  A short business meeting will follow.

At 7 p.m, members and guests will tour the Van Wert County Courthouse at 121 E. Main St.  Built in 1876, the Courthouse is a Second Empire structure and in 1974 was designated Van Wert County's first entry on the National Register of Historic Places.  The public is invited.

Here is a list of event open to the public during March at Bluffton University.
   

March 9  Art exhibit: Opening of senior exhibition by Jill Bornhorst of Fort Loramie; Isaac Schumacher of Bluffton; Gregory Seymour of Orrville; and Luz Varela of Goshen, Ind., Grace Albrecht Gallery, Sauder Visual Arts Center. Hours through March 20 are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and 1-5 p.m. Saturday, March 14, and Sunday, March 15. A reception will be held from 2-4 p.m. March 15.

Lions selling raffle tickets for April 4 shopping spree

Bluffton Lions Club members are selling tickets for the “shopping spree” to be held at the Community Market on Saturday, April 4. 

Lions will sell tickets every Friday and Saturday at the Community Market now through April 4. 

Proceeds from this project will go to the Lion’s Scholarship Fund that offers  $500 scholarships available to high school seniors in Bluffton, Pandora-Gilboa and or Cory-Rawson Schools for their fall classes.
