Kathleen Mikkelsen turns 100 on July 3

Graduated from Bluffton High School in 1935

Kathleen Mikkelsen has a special birthday next week.

And, her only regret is that her twin sister, Geraldine, who died a few years ago, isn’t here to celebrate it with her.

On July 3, Kathleen, a Mennonite Memorial home resident, turns 100.

She grew up on South Main Street Bluffton and graduated in the BHS class of 1935. The class had 75 members. Although in 1939 she married and moved from Bluffton, she never left home.

Bluffton's Arby's new look

"The Inspire Image" is a complete make over of the SR 103 restaurant

A major renovation of the Bluffton Arby’s restaurant is complete, according to Lisa Brown, store manager.

The Atlanta-based company calls the new look “The Inspire image.” Renovation began in late April at the Bluffton store, located at 505 State Route 103. It was completed on June 28.

Brown said that Bluffton’s first renovation step was an outside new look. A few weeks later the inside was closed for nearly one month as renovations continued there. The restaurant never closed, however, as the drive-through remained open.

Beaverdam Bunch 4-H Club involved in community service projects

By club reporter
The Beaverdam Bunch 4-H Club had a meeting on Monday, June 26.

We did community service before our meeting by pulling weeds around the school buildings. If you weren't able to do this community service you can participate in helping at the Mennonite Home on July 16th from 9-10:30.

We are still collecting pop tabs to give to the Ronald McDonald House at any time. Demonstrations at the meeting were given by Luke Jebsen, Carter Dyar, Hannah Creeger, Daniel Creeger, Caitlyn Couch, and Brooke Camper.
