Timothy G. Downey visitation on June 12 in Bowling Green

Timothy G. Downey, 65, of Weston, Ohio, died Sunday, June 10, 2012. He was born in Bluffton, Ohio, to Marion and Mary Elizabeth (Amstutz) Downey. He married Debra McKibben of Bluffton, on March 27, 1970, in First Mennonite Church.

He graduated from Allen East High School in 1965 and served two years in the U.S. Army in Germany. He attended Bowling Green State University where he was a member of the gymnastics team.

He was employed by the City of Bowling Green as an electrical lineman and later electrical supervisor. He was also a part-time farmer.

Mr. Downey coached the Otsego track and field team for over 31 years. During his coaching, the team had six individual state champions and several runner-up in pole vault events.

He received an honoree diploma from Otsego High School for his years of volunteer and service to the school.

Survivors, including his wife, Debra, and five sons: Shaun (Tammie) of Grand Rapids; Travis (Karen), of Bowling Green; Nathan of Weston; Drew (Jillian) of Bowling Green; and Ethan of Bowling Green.

Also surviving are seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild, a sister, Barbara (Chuck) Runyan of Indianpolis; brothers: Steven (Chris) Downey of Lima; and Lance (Liz) Downey of Lima.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bruce.

Visitation is Tuesday, June 12, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., at Deck-Hanneman Funeral Home and Crematory, 1460 W. Wooster St., Bowling Green.

A celebration of life will be held later at First Christian Church, Bowling Green.
