Folic acid is a human-made form of the B-vitamin folate. Our bodies use it to make new cells. Everyone needs folic acid to be healthy, but especially before pregnancy.

Folic acid helps form the neural tube and is known to decrease the risk of major congenital disabilities of an unborn baby’s brain (anencephaly) and spine (spina bifida).

The Ohio High School Athletic Association released Wednesday sport-specific return to play guidelines.

The OHSAA said it is offering the recommendations with the objective of commencing fall sports seasons on Aug. 1.

The OHSAA fully intends to support its member schools and the student-athletes who desire to compete in interscholastic athletics and will continue to assess all areas as more information becomes available.

The Ohio Athletic Conference Presidents Council and its 10-member schools have postponed all intercollegiate competition through Dec. 31, 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Summer is a great time to explore the art spread across the Bluffton community – especially for viewers unable to visit art galleries elsewhere in Ohio.

As a weekly series, The Icon will feature the art created by John Peter Klassen, a long-time Bluffton College art professor.

For some viewers, this series is familiar. For others, it may be a first-time experience.

First of two Bluffton Discovery Days Saturday

The events will include sidewalk sales, demonstrations, BOGO and other discounts, and new products

Bluffton merchants roll out the red carpet for shoppers during Discovery Days on Saturday, July 25, and again on Saturday, Aug. 22. From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., more than a dozen shops will have special activities and sales.

“In February, our merchants held a hugely successful Chocolate Walk and this is a similar cooperative project,” said Paula Scott, CEO of the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce.
