Ebenezer offers VBS program June 2-7

First local VBS of the summer

Ebenezer Mennonite Church will hold its Vacation Bible School next week, Sunday, June 2 to Friday, June 7 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. This is traditionally the first local VBS program in the area. 

This year's theme "Roar!: Life is wild - God is good" involves activity-filled evenings, for six days, Sunday through Friday, at 8905 Columbus-Grove Rd, Bluffton.

This popular program averages over two hundred kids in attendance.

The VBS is for youth ages 4 through fifth grade inclusive.  Since the program starts on Sunday, please just come on Sunday evening to register.

Icon seeks Vacation Bible School details

The Icon invites churches in its viewership area to submit Vacation Bible School information for posting.

The Icon already has information from:
• Bluffton Baptist VBS
• Bluffton Community VBS
• County Line Churh of the Brethren VBS
• Ebenezer Mennonite VBS
• Pandora Communtiy VBS

Representing Bluffton HS at state

Here are Bluffton High School's 2019 entries in the Division III state track meet that begins this morning, May 31.

• Baylor Garmatter (400 meters)

• Xavier Dunifon (300 hurdles and 110 hurdles)

• Jackson Steinmetz (3200 meter run)

• 4x400 relay  – Xavier Dunifon, Baylor Garmatter, Jonathon Schriner, Luke Young

The Pirates tied for third in the boys' regional team standings with Pandora-Gilboa. Running events at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium, Columbus, start Friday at 9:30 a.m.

Kerry Wright, Jr., Director of Children and Family Ministries at Ebenezer Mennonite

Kerry Wright, Jr., accepted a call to serve as Director of Children and Family Ministries at Ebenezer Mennonite Church, Bluffton. He began his ministry on May 21.

He served in ministry as a volunteer at St. John Mennonite Church, Pandora, 20 years ago, helping to lead worship at a Saturday evening service called Common Bond.

He has served at two other churches, first as a lay worship leader at Ebenezer Mennonite Church and the second as a full-time associate pastor and the chairman of the elder board at Encounter Church in Louisville, Kentucky.

Next Gardeners meeting is June 4

Discussing native plants

The Gardeners of the Bluffton-Pandora Area hold their next meeting on Tuesday, June 4, at the Bluffton Public Library, lower level meeting room at 6:30 p.m. Dave McPheron will be speaking on native (indigenous) plants. McPheron is the Volunteer Coordinator of the Hardin County Master Gardener Volunteers, as well as running a native plant nursery for the area.

This meeting is open to the public.

Community screening and wellness day June 22

The Armes Family Cancer Care Center, a division of Blanchard Valley Health System, will offer a community screening and wellness day event on Saturday, June 22, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Several health screenings will be offered at this event, which will take place at The Armes Family Cancer Care Center located at 15990 Medical Drive South in Findlay.

Skin, head and neck cancer screenings will be available by appointment only and can be scheduled by calling 419.429.6428.
