Meet Nicole Boyle, Icon's BHS artist of the month

Nicole Boyle, Bluffton High School junior, is the Bluffton Icon student artist for January.

Nicole has taken art each year in high school and her classes have included Art 1, Design 1 and currently Design 2. 

In the photo, she holds an art project that she says represents her childhood and outlook on life. 

About her art, Nicole says: "I enjoy art because it is a means for expression." Vickie Garmon is the Bluffton High School art teacher.

Bridge opens on Friday

Allen County engineer department employees say that the Columbus Grove Road bridge over Little Riley Creek will be opened for vehicular traffic on Friday morning, Jan. 8. The bridge was closed in early December due to structural issues discovered during the annual survey of county bridges. 

ODOT plans maintenance on SR 696 bridge in 2021

The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 1 seeks public comments concerning planned maintenance on a bridge in Richland Township in 2021.

The bridge is located at the State Route 696 and U.S. 30 interchange just east of the village of Beaverdam. 

The maintenance work on this bridge will require the closure of the ramp that allows traffic to head east on U.S. 30 from State Route 696 and traffic to access State Route 696 from U.S. 30.

A woman, I'll call Debra, attended one of the classes that I teach. She asked, "how can I stay socially connected and motivated during this isolation period?  My health is vulnerable and I need to be very careful."

How many of you wonder the same?  It's very hard to stay motivated and engaged in a world you're not allowed to connect with, especially if your health is compromised.

BVHS implements Resuscitation Quality Improvement program

Blanchard Valley Heath System announced this month that it is implementing the Resuscitation Quality Improvement program (RQI), co-developed by the American Heart Association (AHA) and Laerdal Medical.

The program's purpose is to achieve sustained mastery of high-quality CPR skills and competency, resulting in improved patient outcomes.

Robert Jorg 1967 - 2020

Robert Andrew Jorg, 53, of LaGrange, Indiana, died Dec. 8, 2020, at Parkview North Hospital, Fort Wayne. 

Bob was born in Troy, Ohio, on Sept. 5, 1967,  to Paul Allen Jorg and Marcia Louise (VanDoren) Jorg, who survive him on Hamilton Lake, Hamilton, Indiana, sister, Tracey Jorg Rollison and brother-in-law Douglas Rollison of Indianapolis.

He is also survived by one nephew, Alexander Rollison and two nieces, Bella and Gemma Rollison, also of Indianapolis.
