Women's soccer: St. Francis takes down Bluffton 3-1

The St. Francis women's soccer team fell behind just over 10 minutes into the match, but the Cougars responded with three unanswered goals for their third straight victory on Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012. Bluffton dropped to 1-3 on the season, while USF improved to 4-3.

Senior Maddie Moore (Linn Grove, Ind./South Adams) capitalized in minute 11, giving Bluffton a quick 1-0 lead over St. Francis. The home team knotted the match at one when Kristen Call connected with Heather Jones at the 29:26 mark.

USF added a pair of tallies in the first 15 minutes of period two en route to a 3-1 victory over the Beavers. It marked the third straight setback for Bluffton following a season-opening 10-0 win at Andrews University.

The Cougars finished with a 16-5 advantage in shots, including 10-4 on frame. USF forced six more corner kicks (8-2) while committing three more fouls (7-4). Moore topped Bluffton with three shots, two on target.

Bluffton will look to get back into the win column when the Beavers host Wilmington College for their home opener on Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012. The contest is slated for 12 p.m.
