Barberettes pack the house at Maple Crest performance

The Barberettes packed the house at Maple Crest on Dec. 14 for their grand finale Christmas performance of the season.

Led by pianist Jayne McGarrity, the 20-woman chorus delighted their audience with a wonderful mixture of sacred and secular Christmas favorites.

Anyone who knows the “Barberettes” knows to be prepared for surprises. This year topped the charts with a dulcimer duet by Joyce Hostetler and  Alice Lora as they accompanied Kay Huber, singing “I Wonder as I Wander;” a parody of “The Nutcracker Suite” with dueling swans by Sheryl Schirmer and Louise Wineland; “Blue Christmas” sung by “guest” country star, Marlyce Gundy; and “The 12 Days of Christmas,” complete with props, by the whole chorus.

The choreography for the production was by Janette Reineke, with narration by Nancy Yeager.
