Roger Wannemacher was father of a Bluffton resident

Roger J. Wannemacher, 73, died 2:43 p.m. Friday, January 18, 2013 at Putnam County Ambulatory Care Center, Glandorf. 

He was born March 25, 1939 in Cloverdale to Oscar and Rita (Burgei) Wannemacher.  His mother survives in Cloverdale and his father is deceased. 

On November 3, 1962, he married Marilyn Ellerbrock, with just celebrating 50 yrs of marriage.  She survives in Cloverdale.

Roger is also survived by three children: Marcia (Kevin) Swint of Sylvania; John R. (Tanya) Wannemacher of Long Beach, CA.; and Mary Kay (Rick) Smallcombe of Bluffton;  four sisters: Carol (Ken) Schortgen of Ottawa; Helen Weis of Columbus Grove; Diane (Mel) Nienberg of Glandorf and Marita (Mark) Odenweller of Elida 9 grandchildren:  Gregg, Bryan, Paige and Luke Swint; Cole and Luke Wannemacher; and Julia, Olivia and Ava Smallcombe; and his constant companions:  Rambo and Rosie.  Preceding him in death is a brother-in-law: Gene Weis.  

Roger retired from International Harvester and from farming.   He served 5 years in the National Guard and was a 1957 graduate of Grover Hill High School.  He was a member of St. Barbara Catholic Church, Cloverdale where he was an usher and took care of the church maintenance for many years and was a member of its Holy Name Society.  He was an active participant of the Garden Club at the Meadows of Kalida.  

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 22, at St. Barbara Catholic Church, Cloverdale, with Fr. John Stites officiating.  Burial will follow in church cemetery. 

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Love-Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Jackson Township where a scripture will be held at 7:30 p.m.

Memorials may be given to Putnam County Council of Aging, St. Barbara Catholic Church or to Putnam County Dialysis Center.
