Here's the Bluffton High School class of 1956 during the 1953-54 school year when they were sophomores. This year the class celebrates its 60th reunion.

Cycle of life

Here's a perfect example of the cyle of life. A robin constructed a nest on an artificial flower arrangement on a tombstone at Maple Grove Cemetery. Two baby birds were in the nest and one egg was still to hatch when this photo was taken on Friday.

Friends of the Library used book sale starts Wednesday

Friends of the Bluffton Public Library hold their spring book sale this week. The sale is Wednesday, May 11, through Saturday, May 14, in the library.

Hours are:
Wednesday: 5-7:30 p.m.
Thursday:  9:30 a.m.- 7:30 p.m.
Friday 13: 9:39 a.m. - 4:30 
Saturday: 9:30 a.m.-1 pm.  

"We have a lot of good books, especially children's books.  Books are priced by donation. Come have free coffee and cookies while you browse. All proceeds support library programs," said Sallie Jones of the Friends.

Information meeting focus on proposed water hike set May 11

An information meeting takes place this week on a proposed increase in Bluffton's water bill currently being acted up by the Bluffton council, according to Jerry Cupples, Bluffton resident.

The meeting is at 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 11, in the Bluffton town hall.

"Bluffton Village Ordinance 2-16, when passed, will add $19 per month to every resident's water bill. Please attend an informational meeting," said Cupples.

Free movie showing of "In Transition 2.0" on Sunday

There will be a free public showing of the movie "In Transition 2.0" on Sunday, May 15, at 7 p.m.in the Bluffton town hall, third floor. The movie will be followed by discussion for anyone interested.

The Transition movement, sometimes know as "Transition Towns," is made up of
local groups around the world.

It brings communities of people together who want to create a positive and locally based response to such problems as climate change, energy shortages, economic disruption, and political dysfunction.

2016 Barbara Fleming Memorial Nursing Scholarship winners

Vivian Nofziger and Kimberly Dove are the recipients of the 2016 Barbara Fleming Memorial Nursing Scholarship sponsored by Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio, Bluffton and Pandora (MHCO). 

Nofziger is a 2014 graduate of Pandora-Gilboa High School and is a student at Huntington (Indiana) University where she is working toward a Bachelor of Science in nursing degree.  She is the daughter of Vance and Crista Nofziger of Pandora.
