Ada chamber unveils new logo

It's bold, modern and easy to recognize

FROM ADA ICON - The Ada Area Chamber of Commerce unveiled a new logo at its Wednesday morning breakfast meeting at the Ada Public Library.

The new logo replaces a logo with several decades of use, according to Deb Curlis, chamber director.

“Ada’s chamber board wanted a logo that is bold and modern, yet simple and easy to recognize,” she added.

 The result is a logo with the word Ada in bold face capital letters.

Adding the word, “Ohio”  identifies Ada from nearly 20 Ada villages and cities around the United States.

Lima Beane Chorus performs at Sept. 5 ice cream social

The Lima Beane Chorus will perform in early September at Hilty Home, 304 Hilty Dr., Pandora. The chorus will sing from 7 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 5, in a free and open to the public concert. The event includes homemade ice cream.

Dr. Giedraitis joins Pain Management Specialists of Blanchard Valley 

Blanchard Valley Medical Practices, a division of Blanchard Valley Health System, recently welcomed Andrius Giedraitis, MD, to the team at Blanchard Valley Pain Management. The office is located within Blanchard Valley Hospital at 1900 S. Main St., Findlay, and Dr. Giedraitis is welcoming new patients.

Donna Shadley was a member of the Bluffton Senior Citizens

Donna C.  Shadley, 89, died on Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2019, at 6:19 a.m. at her residence in Ada, surrounded by her family.

She was born on Aug. 17, 1930, in Clearbrook, Minnesota, to the late Karl and Anna (Nelson) Buness. On March 6, 1948, Donna married Carl R. Shadley and he preceded her in death on Feb. 14, 2003.

Ada police break up counterfeit ring

Police recover approximately $50,000 in counterfeit currency along with items believed to have been purchased with counterfeit currency

FROM ADA ICON - Ada police broke up a counterfeit ring in Ada on Wednesday, (Aug. 21), according to Michael Harnishfeger, Ada police chief.

The police issued the following report:

On Wednesday, Aug. 21, at approximately 3 p.m., officers of the Ada Police Department executed a search warrant at 102 ½ N. Main St., Apartment 5, Ada, as part of an on-going investigation into the passing of counterfeit money.

Alice Bucher celebrates birthday 103

She may be the oldest living Triplett Corp. retiree

Alice Bucher, who celebrated her 103rd birthday on Aug. 14 in Ada, may be the oldest living Triplett Corp. retiree.

Mrs. Bucher was an employee at Triplett for 22 years.

She and her husband, Dale, had three children, two boys and one girl. Dale  was the Ada scoutmaster for many years and he also served on several community boards and organizations in Ada. He died in 1999.

Today, Mrs. Bucher has 10 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
