Clyde Augsburger was a lifelong farmer

Clyde W. Augsburger, 84, of Bluffton died April 8, 2013, at the Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton, surrounded by family.

Mr. Augsburger was born in Bluffton on Oct. 2, 1928, to the late Omar and Fannie (Frankhauser) Augsburger. On July 11, 1948, he married Donna McCullough and she survives.

He grew up in the Pandora and Bluffton areas, attending the Stratton one-room schoolhouse on the Ewing farm his first and second grades in school. When he graduated from Pandora High School in 1946 he began a lifelong career as a farmer.

A member of the Mt. Cory United Methodist Church, he had served as its treasurer and was a member of the Friendly Fellowship Class. He also had served on the ASCS committee, was a former member of the Men’s Garden Club of Bluffton and was a member of the Ohio Farm Bureau.

Survivors include his wife Donna; four children Judy Hamilton of Greenfield, Indiana, Jerry (Shara) Augsburger of Borden, Indiana, James (Wanda) Augsburger of Bowling Green, Ohio; Joan Lieb of Dublin, Ohio; nine grandchildren Matthew Hamilton of Asheville N.C., Andrew (Lori) Augsburger of Loxahatchee, Fla., Erin (Chad) Zachary of Eustis, Fla., Eric Augsburger and Mackenzie Augsburger both of Borden, Ind., Carl (Ellie) Augsburger of Cleveland, Crystal Augsburger of Hilliard, Allison Augsburger of Rome, Ga., Alex Augsburger of Wheeling, W.V., and one great grandchild Cheyenne Augsburger of Loxahatchee, Fla.

His parents and two brothers LaVern and Kenneth Augsburger preceded him in death.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Chiles-Laman Funeral and Cremation Services, Bluffton. 

Rev. Jerry Lewis officiating. Burial will be in Clymer Cemetery near Mt. Cory. Family and friends may call Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family invites friends and family to consider donations to the Mt. Cory United Methodist Church, Mennonite Memorial Home or Bridge Hospice.
