It's Lucas Cherry and this Facebook post is approaching 3,000 reaches

The Icon announces a new Facebook record.

We promised him 750 Facebook reaches within 48 hours. The total as of 9:43 a.m. June 21 is 2,696. It's still growing.

The Icon spotted Bluffton High School 1999 graduate Lucas Cherry downtown Bluffton during the Shirley's Popcorn birthday party. Snapped this photo and then challenged Icon viewers to ID this guy and offer a comment or two.

We promised some Shannon Theatre passes to what we judged as the best comments.

Here's the latest from Beaverdam Bunch 4-H Club

During the Beaverdam Bunch 4-H Club meeting on June 18th demonstrations were given by Ella Krupp, Roselove Jebsen, Ethan Leiber, Amber Boop, Jessica Boop, Greta Kauffman, Caitlyn Zimmerman, and Buddy Thebeau. A safety talk was also given by Nathan Hardesty about fire safety.

July 1st is the deadline to get fair entries in if anyone hasn’t gotten those in yet.

If anyone would like to donate any pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald House our next meeting will be June 25th at 7:00pm at Bluffton Middle School.


National Night Out Aug. 7

Mark your calendar for National Night Out in Bluffton. It's Tuesday, Aug. 7, at the Bluffton Community Swimming Pool. Plans are underway, Watch the Icon for complete details. Free admission to the swimming pool is part of the program.

A community fireworks display sponsored by the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce concludes the event.


Relay for Hope is Friday at BFR

Here's this year's schedule

Bluffton's Relay for Hope takes place at Bluffton Family Recreation Friday, June 22, from  4 p.m. to midnight with the theme “Hope, Love, Believe, Walk for a Cure,” according to Lynda Best, chair of the event.

July 25 next chamber business after hours

Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce's next business after hours takes place from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, according to Paula Scott, chamber CEO.

The event is hosted and sponsored by Southgate Lanes, 9700 Dixie Highway, where it will take place.

This will be a casual gathering with no formal program. Meet and mingle with others from area businesses and organizations.

Courtesy of Southgate Lanes, there will be a free taco bar and music.



School board June meeting moved to next Wednesday

Bluffton school board has rescheduled its June meeting according to Paula Parish, school treasurer.

The June will will take place at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 27, in the elementary media center. It was originially scheduled for June 25.
