Maple Crest elders bring out their hobbies

LOTS OF PHOTOS AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS STORY.

Post cards, quilts, paintings, cast-iron toys, sock monkeys and lots more hobbies were displayed and shared by 25 Maple Crest elders during its July 23 biennial hobby show.

New to this year’s show were “works in progress” by three residents – Genevieve Fast knitted a scarf, Joanne Niswander took stitches in her latest needlepoint piece, and Carl Wolf demonstrated the art of coloring a mandala.

Maple Crest resident John Murray shared his Bluffton photo collection. John, who once played Santa Claus in Bluffton, displayed a photo of a young Gregg Luginbuhl on Santa’s knee. In a coincidence, Luginbuhl attended the show and rediscovered the photo with John.
